Dr. Deirdre Nunan, an orthopedic surgeon from Lanigan, SK, has made significant contributions in Gaza through her volunteer work with Doctors Without Borders Canada since 2018. At a recent press conference featuring NDP MP Heather McPherson and fellow Canadian healthcare professionals returning from Gaza, Dr. Nunan conveyed her experiences with compassion, remarking, “Despite the so-called ceasefire, I encountered new injuries every day—shattered limbs, trauma from weaponized drones, and profound suffering that is difficult to express.” In a recent media interview, she reflected, “What I’m experiencing now is among the most challenging situations I have ever faced. Nevertheless, I feel a strong conviction that this is where I am meant to be.”
