Organizing 101
Poverty, climate chaos, racism: the problems we see in our world did not happen by accident. They stem from systems of oppression that maintain power and privilege for certain groups of people. Those systems of oppression are built into laws and policies by decision-makers who are people with power and privilege. They have had the power to consolidate and maintain their influence for decades. Organizing collectively – with a unified, anti-oppressive message – is a fundamental method for fighting for a more equitable world.
Birthed from union struggles, civil rights campaigns, and environmental struggles, the practice of community organization has been developed by the likes of Jane McAlevey, Saul Alinsky, Martin Luther King Jr., Dolores Huerta, and Marshall Ganz. Join longtime social movement activist Dave Lyons-Morgan and learn the theoretical frameworks and fundamental methodologies that have helped people unite together and successfully change the world.
