Theresa Sokyrka
Canadian Juno Nominated Singer Songwriter Theresa Sokyrka will be performing this Saturday, May 17th, 2:15pm at the Grace Westminster United Church Social Hall in a preformance in solidarity with the people of Gaza as part of a Pop-Up Shop for Peace.
Theresa Sokyrka is one of Canada’s most pure and honest voices with the soul of a joyful Ukrainian Baba, Sokyrka has paved a unique career for herself the last 25 years. The multifaceted musician, singer songwriter and Canadian Idol 2004 runner-up, has independently sold over 100,000 records, securing GOLD status on her first album which also garnered a JUNO nomination for Pop Album of the Year.
Armed with a random trident of life experiences she continues to hone her craft. In the last 5 years she has released several cover songs with Saskatoon musician and composer Jesse Brown that have collectively earned over 10 million streams worldwide.
There is no denying Sokyrka continues to meaningfully address an array of raw emotions with her voice and activism, connecting deeply with her ancestral matriarchal folk healing lineage through music. She is a musical force that will, to quote Neil Young, “keep on rockin’ in the free world.”
