Come out to show your displeasure with the Saskatchewan Party's ongoing cuts to critical public services.
A group of people will be picketing outside the Holiday Inn Express before the meeting begins. Bring your own picket sign or use a ready-made one.
As you may know the Saskatchewan Party tabled a budget on March 22, 2017 that cut deeply into the public services that we hold dear. At the same time, they have reduced corporate taxes and offered incentives for oil executives to relocate to Saskatchewan.
We have seen cuts to schools, public libraries, universities, the Saskatchewan Transportation Company, NORTEP (Northern Teacher Education Program), NORPAC (Northern Professional Access College), pastoral and funeral services, the hearing aid program, the Meewasin Valley Authority, road safety, municipal services, reforestation and parks, community pastures, Community Justice, community based organizations, as well as an increase to the PST and its application to children’s clothing and restaurant meals to name a few. This is in addition to existing cuts to programs like the emergency stabilization shelter at the Lighthouse and Saskatchewan Assured Income for Disability (SAID) in 2016.
