When faced with the forces like climate change, colonization, gentrification, austerity, racism and xenophobia, it's often difficult to see how we can make meaningful gains. But there are many stories from around the world of times when grassroots activist groups and labour unions worked together to find common ground and develop the relationships of solidarity that allowed them to fight these powerful forces to generate huge wins both for union members and the community as a whole!
This free workshop will bring together union members, community groups, activists, students, and members of the public to build solidarity and identify opportunities for mutual support and collaboration. For inspiration, we'll look at case studies from around the world of the collective power we can wield when unions and community work together for social, environmental, and economic justice.
The workshop will also provide space for unions and community groups to host info tables for participants to learn more about the campaigns they're working on, connect with like-minded organizations, and get involved in the fight for a more just world.
