Seamlessly combining travelogue, political analysis, and ecological theory, speaking both to local residents and to leading scholars, the authors propose a new understanding of ecology that links the domination of the other-than-human world to the domination of humans by humans. They argue that any definition of ecology has to start with decolonization and that confronting global warming requires a politics that speaks to a different way of being in the world—a reconstituted understanding of the sweetness of life.

Turning the Tide is hosting a reading followed by an activity from Wendy Mirasty’s new book, 52 Weeks of a Single Mother’s Love.
The book is for single mothers to embrace the moments during difficult times, to remember what keeps them going, and to reflect back on changes as the months pass. It is a self help book that has weekly reflections that supports single mothers.

Stop the Cuts – May Meeting

Third Avenue United Church (304 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon)
The Sask Party’s cuts are part of an austerity agenda far bigger than one issue. At this meeting, we will continue to build a common front between organizations and individuals who want to live in a province with strong public services, that builds just relationships between settlers and Indigenous people, and that doesn’t leave anyone behind.
We encourage anyone opposed to austerity and cuts to attend! Organizations and individuals welcome.

Once you find us, we’ll take you to an top secret location for a free, one-hour performance experience. It’s as fresh as a show gets as our community’s playwrights, musicians and celebrity interviewees delve into some of that month’s top news stories and events.
“It’s theatre of the now,” says artistic director Joel Bernbaum. “Art is more relevant than it has ever been before. It has the power to take people down a new path of understanding the world around them. We believe these performances and the discussions they generate will build a better community.”
